Answer or help needed Please

Hi

I have just done and passed my 2382 exam so I'm very pleased at the moment, but one of the questions I got had me stumped.

The question was.... A 3 phase motor rated at 16Kw at 400V with a full load factor of 0.8 what is the full load current ?

I didn't have a clue, and still don't. So was wondering if any of you kind people could tell me the answer and how you worked it out please.

i think its

16000 / (400x1.73x0.8) = 28A per phase

3 Phase circuits: Power/Square root of 3 x Voltage x PF

16000

---------------------

1.73 X 400 X 0.8

= 28.86 Amps per phase

when calculating 3 phase circuits we have to allow for the effects of highly inductive/highly capacative loads therefore we use the equation above,
