Just watching the DVD series ..AGAIN! Depending upon your sense of humour obviously , this is so well written , understated comedy with some poignant moments .
The actor Toby Jones is brilliant in it . Based on two nerdy metal detectorists , Lance & Andy , their escape is the quiet solitude of detecting , just the birds singing & the beautiful Sussex countryside .
If you fancy it you MUST watch from episode 1 .
It appears to be about nothing then you realise theres actually a lot of stuff going on .
Some classic nerdy lines like :
"Watch University Challenge last night ?
"Yeah.
" I knew the answer to that one he got wrong "
"Did you say it ....out loud ?
"No I was on my own "
"Doesn't count then ....gotta say it out loud "
American style , canned laughter , gag every 30 seconds IT IS NOT !!! Won two BAFTAs so not just me who thought it was good .
