This reminds me that I worked in Cardiff 1000 years ago , installing the floodlighting up those towers on the Frieghtliner Depot. We stayed in digs in a place called ,( I think) Splotlands ??? ( That can't be right can it)

Oh the memories are flooding back now, also worked in the Rhondda at the steelworks in Treorcy, stayed at a pub in Treherbert . When it snowed we could'nt get out of the valley to go home for the weekend. I have to say that they were the most friendly people of anywhere we ever worked. We were working in London before that , at Dartford Power Station , bluddy unfriendly bar stewards , they said they couldn't understand what we were saying !!

Went from there to Newcastle upon Tyne , Geordies were great , always friendly and helpful stayed in Jesmond at a posh hotel. A guy from the works stopped his car every morning outside so we could follow him across the city to the job ,not the easyist place to drive round.

Also worked in Liverpool , Scousers were great too , also friendly and ready to help you out as a stranger. They are Football mad , of course, we had to play the pipefiters every dinnertime, they had to be Liverpool while we had to be Aston Villa. Like a bunch of schoolkids , they kept a league table of the matches onsite ( only two teams) .

Unlike Man. Utd. fans I noticed they never ran down our local team although none were as good as Liverpool, of course.

Oh yes , Godfather, every one was asking, yes, yes , all really worried, ooo so glad you are back and all is well , yes, yes everyone missed you and the boys, we assumed you had gone to Scicily.

Twas good viewing to be sure, first docks to mass export coal from the UK.

The first place in the British Isles to have a totally intergrated multi cultural workforce.

Lots to be said for the scotsman who built the docks.

Google Splottlands, it is there on the map right next to SPLOTT where i was born.

Not all Welsh places begin with Llan, thats only in the english mind. :^O

The more north you go you'll find more Llan's up there.
