Hi, I've asked this on anotherforum, so I hope it's ok to ask on another one!

I have an old oven (circa 1992), in which the element has gone.

The wiring to the element comes through a couple of holes in a screwed panel at the back of the oven.

One of the wires slipped down the back while removing the element.

The wiring is difficult to pull through the hole, so I was going to unscrew the panel.

I noticed that the panel as some white 'wadding' type stuff that seems to act as a buffer or something between the panel and the oven.

I'm slightly worried that this could be asbestos.  I'm also worried that the wires to the element might have asbestos in them.

Just wondering if anyone had any advice?

Thanks

SRB

If there's any doubt that it may be asbestos leave it well alone. It might be worth getting rid of it and replacing with a new one. The asbestos is fine until it is broken or burnt.

I think it was anything pre 2000 may contain asbestos...
