Ashley accessories

Hi All

Today I got a Zs reading of 0.83ohms from a new (Ashley) double socket that I installed today. I got this using the plug in adaptor with my MFT while the skt front was on. Using the probes on the back of the socket I got 0.38ohms.

The Ze was 0.12, R1+R2 0.03ohms.

This is a radial, one double socket only, cable length about 6mts. TNCS.

I was wondering why I got such a high reading from the socket front as opposed to the rear. I know there can be a difference but I've never had such a big difference before. So I wondered if anyone has any feed back on the ashely range and how good they were?

Interesting , MalcyB , Ashley Rock used to be a decent brand but these days its anyone's guess who makes them and where !

As for the Zs , you would'nt expect a difference through an inch of brass contact material.

Did you try it with just the probes in the front to eliminate your plug-in adaptor?

No I didn't try that. I use it all the time and never had a problem before.

AVOID Ashley like the plague, absolute rubbish IMO.

Were the terminals tight other thing i would try turning switch on and off a few times generally this is on older sockets that probably need changing anyway. I quite like Ashley 3 pole fan pullcords.

The Ashley brand name is owned by Hager.

The only Ashley gear I've used are the maintenance free JBs and shower pull cord, both of which i've been happy with.

Yeah I checked all terminations.

I was happy with the reading from the back of the skt so I won't be going back.

I've often found the disparity you've talked of - and it makes me wonder how realistic it is to use the 'figure of 8' cross connection on a ring to find out if there are spurs - particularly if the sockets are old.

Generally used to like Ashley accessories.

Yep, find that quite often if the socket has had a plug static in it a while ,or if new and unused sometimes it has surface tarnishing on the contacts.
