Had to go to my boy's school last night - he got the Attainment Award for ICT for his year - nice to know the hours he spends in front of the PC haven't been wasted.

Proud Dad etc!

(..........the only time I was in school after hours was for detentions!)

better than my letter of achievement from the council thanking me for my excellent service at not having any time off in the last year (few years ago now)

funny thing was, i hadnt worked for them for over a year. well i guess 0 days off in 0 days i should have worked is 100% attendance...

It's great he was top out of about 120 kids. Funny, he was presented the award by the recently retired head of customer relations or something at RBS (Welsh fella Davies/Davies or something) who's one of the governors..................what's the life lesson there? "Screw thousands of customers and retire with a big wedge!". In his speech he basically said "6 people in Edinburgh effed it all up & everyone else was blameless".

On another note:

One of the old boys works for Caterham and they donated a 7 kit to the school which they've built up to be road legal etc. My boy sadly wasn't involved with this (my fault for not encouraging when he was a nipper etc when I was spending too much time at work). But one of his mate's is part of the build team (he's 14 btw). Another lad we know at the school, a neighbour, has managed to blag his Enrichment Week AT Caterham Cars! My boy is doing game design. Anyway here's the car with small madam in shot:

Great to hear your son is doing well, how ld is he? Unfortunately my teenage son (almost 16) is just doing the absolute bare minimum to get by in school. He's scraping through by the skin of his teeth and no amount of cajoling/encouragement/threatening seems to make him want to work ; (

I think this coming term he's going to lose long-board, screen, internet and cell phone privileges from monday to friday. Can't force him to learn but I can certainly remove all the distractions that he finds more appealing.

My boy is 14 and a half. TBH IF he fully applied himself he could do this in every subject. Other than the ICT he's on course I think for B's rather than A's throughout. What he seems to do too is just enough on the homework front but NOT go the extra mile to make it outstanding. Seems he knows how to work the system. I hear him telling his mates what to do to to g'tee a pass. I've often suggested why not do such and such and he'll say "Nah! That'll be enough!".

Too much time gaming IMO! Went to bed at 2am last night, God knows what time he actually went to sleep. Woke up at 3pm TODAY by me shouting up the stairs!!!
