Had two in the same day .

Commercial premises.

Backer heater 12" in base of cylinder ,fitted by me about 4 months ago . Overheat stat has tripped , reset it , broke the seal on the thermostat adjuster and turned it down to an unknown setting ( no temeratures, just marks ) Left it working but await possible phone call .

Domestic

Backer heater 18" in top of cylinder , fitted by me about 1 year ago . Overheat stat has tripped again , Customer said water got very hot then stopped working, so suspect thermostat although it wasn't calling for heat ( Tank full of hot water from central heating) I have to return with a new stat but also to rewire the supply as rubber insulation has deteriorated.

I was wondering if the overheat devices were known to start playing up and if others had the same problem occur?

Yes had plenty of problems with them, I even called them to complain about no settings to show temp.

I was told they are not designed to be altered and are set not to be altered.

I scrapped them and went to a different make.
