Hello there,

Quoting to rewire a barn at the moment. The trusses are concrete, the cables at present are lashed in. Ive looked through all the girder clip (caddy and such like) catalogues hoping to track something to support the cables (SAW 3x1.5) with no luck! :_|

Anyone got any ideas? i thought i had seen SWA support by hook type things that hooked around the truss (but may have imagined this). There are loads of barns out there so how are they done?

cheers. Pray

i wasnt sure if you can drill these trusses as they are concrete and old? ?:|

If everyone drills them i will be cleating and laughing!

sorry - i saw the girder clip mentioned and though you had a girder there!

is it possible to get something around the concrete to suspend something under it?

or maybe a cat line between supporting columns?

yeh when going through the caddy catalogue i saw the catinary and gripple stuff that got me thinking as a possibility, thought there may be something easier out there. The lights are going as tight to the roof as possible as the farmer has a habit of ****ing the old ones with tractor and attachments, so i would rather not go down the catinary style route.

On the other hand not too sure i fancy making my own brackets. There are loads of barns out there so there must be a way. Unless all the farmers are wiring them themselves! :D

I actually used something that resembled the coat hangers you get for over a door the last time I done something similar, depends on the depth of joist I suppose.

how about metal cable ties and some sort of containment?

its only got to support one small armoured so i suppose i could get some very long cable ties and try to get it out of sight. Possibly metal as steps said.

I can see what you are saying with the coat hanger type containment steps.

Ive got three rows of five lights to put up at height if i get the job, so something quick would be nice.
