hello chaps

customer has sold his flat and wants an extractor fitted in the window, im not sure if there is already one there.

i have not done one like this before, any advice? i take it the power is fed via a flex outlet into the fan.

thanks

Isolator above door is good, again in the right zone, As for pull cord , I think you'll find the fan has to be triggered by the light switch and have overrun to enable it to do the air changes.

Deke

i have not seen the job yet, but its in a flat, i dont know if that makes any differance? apart from running in the cables
if you measure up you can get the fan flush with the ceiling so no cables will be exposed/seen. you won't need any capping or yt etc

if the fan is ipx4 it can go in zone 1 and 2

however your unlikely to be in those zones

You can get a duct with grill in end and rubber gasket which enables fitting completed fan installation from inside.

Just core drill 4" hole from inside slide duct in untill grill end sticks out then retract and gasket expands to seal hole

Have used on 3 rd floor flats and in lofts to save working at height.

do you all use core drills? last duct i did i drilled loads of 10mm holes lol

and just to confirm the fan is wired in between the switch and light

Will only use diamond core drills much quicker than the way you do it.

Depends Paul how you want to control it

If it is a timer fan triggered by switching on the light then you need a 3 core + CPC to the fan (Perm Live, Switched live and nuetral).

So it depends how the light is wired as to where you need to pick them up.

You will also need a 3 pole isolator to isolate the fan.
