Good mind to write and ask for a refund on my TV tax for the ****e that has been on for the past hour...................we love sit com....absolute carp

Not just the Beeb  101  I just watched Joanna Lumley in Japan for an hour  , which was interesting ... then zapped through the other non Beeb 200 channels , switched off and retired to the office .

Just wondering how much Sky costs for the year.

I questioned the very same Deke,

we pay sky £45 per month for TV and watch may three channels for two hours a week!!

Its up for end of contract soon and it'll be reduced drastically or binned altogether.

£45x12 = 540 pa really!!

Jeez!!!   And folk whinge about the Beeb...    £140.50   0.38p per day

If you have Sky , do you also have to buy a license?

Cccam costs €60 a year for all sky channels and a zgemma box to watch it on costs £60 only a fool would pay for sky.

I understand if someone is a major sports fan  that Sky is the channel but it certainly sounds expensive.

BT keep badgering me to pay them to  watch TV , at least I think thats what they are on about ,  so I pay my £140 license which is actually a massive general tax , like Road Tax , the Beeb gets a fraction of that income.     Why would I pay BT to watch TV???

Not counted but must have hundreds of channels with Freeview  and Freesat  but only watch about 2%  .    The missus watches more than me for various reasons but I see around an hour a night .

As we discussed before ,  the brain washing  ad breaks really drive me round the twist  and they KNOW that constant barrage  works ....... I , and others my age can still sing ad jingles from our childhood 100 yrs ago .

" I'm going well ...I'm going Shell...I'm going well on Shell, Shell Shell!! "

" Oooooooooooooo The Esso sign means happy motoring ...happy motoring , the Esso sign means happy motoring ....Caaaaaaaaall at the Esso sign"

BT is glorified freeview wouldn't waste my money.

Sky is nothing but money grabbing bastards, what they do is have a handful of good channels then put one of the good channels in a channel bundle with a load of lettuced channels. They then make you pay per bundle, so to get three or four good channels you have to pay three or four bundle subs. Before you know if you're paying through your nose.

With Sky , a lot of what you pay for is American dross, or recycled BBC stuff that you have already watched before.

And they have the CHEEK as well as charging you to watch it, they put bloody adverts in.  That's why I would never have pay tv, not before they take out all the adverts.

you could get a 'Fire-stick' so that all the big box office series are available on-line, lots of films etc etc, but even that is full of stuff I've already seen or can't be arsed to watch cos I'm well past teenager Vampire and Were-wolf programming which seems to be all the rage these days. Not sure what the cots are, but I believe it is quite resonable compared to Sky / BT etc etc

I'm pretty sure if you (or anyone) were given £1.4bn you could do a better job.

Don't watch TV much these days with YouTube I don't need to.

If two guys in a shed can make a better and more popular car programme than the current top gear for less than 10% of the cost the the BBC'S days are numbered.

I have given up watching the BBC news. They want to control what we hear rather than reporting the facts. The BBC is nothing more than the broadcasting arm of The Guardian these days.

ITV news for me these days.

Don't watch the news...

Usually someone else's political agenda vomited all over you to rile you up and make you angry about something  five minutes previously you had no idea existed.

I'm not suggesting that it's not important to keep up on current affairs but I feel the media outlets are too biased in favour of their owners and the politicians who support them.

It's just another scam

I would actually describe the BBc regular news as more like the governments official mouthpiece, have you noticed the booze/ fags/fat agenda? The 'out of normal hours' reporting is far superior, less UK focussed, and worth listening to, but you need to be more of an insomniac...

Firestick is about £80 a year for Amazon Prime according to my son, with discount for students
