Bending Emt

I need to bend a 10' stick of 1/2" rigid into a square, with the ends meeting on one side of the square. I'm using a 3/4" emt bender. Where do I make my bends? Thanks. Chris.

Depends on the type of bender..... Calculating bending allowances can be very difficult, depends on the different types of bender, materials, material thickness, bend radius, all sorts....

What type of bender you got??

A back-to-back bend produces a “U” shape in a single length of

conduit. Use the same technique for a conduit run across the floor

or ceiling which turns up or down a wall.

Example:

Step 1. After the first 90° bend has been made, measure to

the point where the back of the second bend is to be, “B”.

Step 2. Measure and mark your conduit the same distance,

mark “B”.

Step 3. Align the mark on the conduit with the Star-Point on

the bender and bend to 90°

Thanks guys. I love Bender from Futurama. My 3/4" emt (electrical metallic tubing) is an ELCTRUNITE brand (it's old). 1/2" rigid conduit can be bent with a 3/4" emt bender. I'm racking my brain, because I cannot figure all the shrinkages, etc. I need someone to hold my hand, and tell me where to mark the rigid, which is where I will position the ARROW mark on the bender. I need to make four 90 deg bends, to form a square. To quote Monty Python "Electric donkey bottom biter, and animal food trough wiper". My Gray family name is asociated with Sutherland, and I can wear Stewart or Blackwatch tartan. My kilt is MoD Blackwatch.
