My lad has just past his test..

trying to find a car,,,,,,,,,Corsa comes to mind but.....

there was a report on Radio 4 recently that insurance companies hike there prices on this car due to the boy racer tag ????

any truth in this ??

also and reccomendations for insurance companies,,,,,,,,the price compare sites start at 3k ffs !!!!!! Co-op seems the best

My daughter started of with a peugeot 306 because they are not classed as hot hatch think her first insurance was about

Try getting multiple quotes from the comparison sites using all the same basic data, but just change the make and model of car. In other words, just find out which cars are the cheapest to insure.

i would have suggested Peugeot 206 or a Punto

Yes, THEY don`t know (or really care) if you drive it or not.........

Its similar to when I got married - the insurance as "named" was 18x higher than "and spouse"......crazy.

i cannot have him as a named driver on my policy,,,,,its now illegal !!!!

1.2 corsa s reg 3k on his own

with his mother on it

I have a mate who fits these boxes Theo, his party last night!

I'll try to find out what I can, but he works away all week fitting them!

Theo, bite their hand off at that price , for an 18 yr old I've heard 3 times that amount . And as the others say , pick the right model car .

You can have a named driver but they always want to know if they're under 25 (I think it is)

Is it best for him to build up his own NCD s ?

Are you allowed to do the named driver thing if he is the only driver?
No you can't, as read some where recently that insurance companies will not pay out should there be an accident and it turns they are the main driver and the insurance is in someone elses name with them as a named driver.

The named driver part means that they have the permission of the main driver to drive the vehicle.

Vehicle has to be insured by that person who is the main driver of the vehicle.

Not only that - but he will not receive any "No claims bonus" either.

The companies that advertise that all drivers on a policy with them will receive their own NCBs, will, no doubt, only be valid with that particular inrance company.

There have been changes to a lot of policies already, but there are much more to come.

Some companies no longer offer "Third party insurance to cover you to drive an other vehicle" (subject to that vehicle already having valid insurance) and, it is said that all companies will stop them too, within a year. (so my insurance company told me, last year).

It will catch the speeders and muppet drivers.

Then we won't be paying so much for them. ;)

well my lad went with the co op young drivers policy and has been driving 3 months

he paid
