You are correct and those main bondings always have to be available for inspection and testing. My answer above was for supplementary bonding which continuity could be checked by testing and if soldered does not need to be available for inspection or testing. It is more cosmetic for bathrooms in that the horrible green and yellow cable does not need to be on show.
GH - the bonding in question is for the main water. Should I insist they get cupboards removed or cut an access hole then?

Even for a minor change you need to confirm water (and gas etc...) is bonded correctly to 17th and I am not sure you can confirm that at this time so I guess you may need to.

Have you got a Fein or similar as you should be able to cut out a neat hole and put the bit back in after without too much drama.

Ian.

Ok, I'll speak to them. Forgive my ignorance, but what's a "Fein"? :|

Play nice boys. :)

SuperSwift, just because you have seen or heard of it in recent years then that does not mean it never happened or isn't an acceptable method. I think you should have a little more respect for people that are giving up their free time (for free too) trying to help others and maybe phrase things in a less provocative way. Just because you disagree with someone does not warrent an attack after all, this is not the SF forum ;)

Sorry for replying a tad late the others have answered I think but just to clarify, yes you are correct the main bonding to the water should be available for inspection.

It should not be covered or hidden otherwise you could not verify the connection other than removing all other bonding and then testing, you could also not verify that it conforms to the regulations in respect of labeling.

they are good, but NOT as good as some people make out,

personally I have never ever been able to justify buying one,

I really dont know where you could find one indespensable.

if Im cutting a panel or similar and i know something is behind it then I like to be able to feel the resistance of my cutter.

IMHO, a waste of money unless you have enough to buy gadgets and gizmos,

(which i certainly dont)

I did some decking bits the other day (builder had built deck but no steps off) and that was useful for cutting the in-situ boards as needed and the notches out of the step boards where the strings are.
