Hi quick question client is having a phone line with a dedicated broadband connection.

He is not 100% sure how it will be supplied but seems to think that BT are putting a filter at the incoming line splitting it into 2 lines.

Has anybody connected this supply before? if so do they connect in 1 box or 2, and would I require a 1 or 2 lines to supply the rest of the house ie 1 line for the broadband connection for a hub and 1 line for the normal telephone points thanks CJS

Normally dedicated lines will be presented just with a master socket (normally at cmr's requested location) and then you just put the microfilter into that.

the phone and BB will need to be split. you can either do this at the master socket, and have all extension sockets as phone only, with modem via its own line back to master socket, or plugged directly to master socket.

Or, you can have each phone line un-split, and use a splitter at each outlet for phones/modem

So if he is having a phone line and a broadband line this will require 2 master sockets, is there any way you can substitute the master with a filter to connect my cable too, or do I just connect a secondary at the hub and connect a filter there. and the last time I had a phone line installed I was told by the BT engineer that they will only bring their line into the building a maximum of 1.5 meters thanks CJS

see here - part was down page there are the front that replace part of the NTE5
If I install a duel face plate phone/broadband will BT supply 2 lines into the back of it? or will it be 1 supply split ? If so will I be able to extend from each supply phone/broadband ? and will every point from the broadband line be filtered or will I need to fit filter's inline with the hub/modem ? the client seems to think that it will be filtered at the master so no more filter's will be required for the broadband CJS

OK I'm confused you said dedicated line for dsl. Is this the case now or are you talking about splitting the dsl signals off one line? How many lines are BT being paid for?

there is normally one line comes into the house - which contains both internet and phone line. this signal, if delivered direct to phones, will interfere. so it needs split so BB signal doesnt get to phone, and phone signal doesnt get to BB. you can split the signal at the master socket and send a phone only to all extension outlets, so an unsplit feed and split the signal at each point of use

I think you are all confusing splitting with band passing. They are 2 different things.
