The winter 08 issue of wiring matters has a bit about BS3036How do I know whether the short circuit capacity of a BS3036 is 1kA or 2kA? (I know the 4 kA types aren't available in lower current sizes).
This is problem with 3036 fuses they have no markings as to catagory on them. I had look on wylex site and there is less information available about them. I think you would need to ring Wylex technical to find out. I personally would imagine they are 1ka as I have seen what happens to them when you have a short circuit. I would think the 2ka ones are more your ceramic ones like mem type. The 4ka type is your industrial switch fuses. But I am probably barking up the wrong tree here. The winter 08 issue of wiring matters has a bit about BS3036

e.g.
S1A devices are 1KA. in sizes 5,15,20,30,45, & 60A
S2A devices are 2kA. in sizes 5,15,20,30,45, 60 & 100A
S4A devices are 4kA. in sizes 30,45, 60 & 100A
but it don't say how to identify what type you have!
