Hello all,

Hope you can assist me as a new member.

I install large armoured cable for a firm who work as a sub-contractor for larger electrical companies. Anyway, we're normally told to either tie the cable or use cable cleats. We've got a job at the moment where we've been asked to help decide how the cables should be fixed depending on factors such as short forces and cable size.

we're not electricians and just wondered if there was any sort of formula that could be used to help work this out.

Would really appreciate any help to make me look smart in front of my boss.

We will need to know a little bit more, or at least you will.

The forces are related to the cable sizes, fault currents, cable installation method, cable layout on the containment.

I would suggest you start with the cleat makers if it is that important.

What sort of fault current levels are we talking about?

"Most" LV stuff is below 35kA Ph to ground anyway.

Are these single or multi core armoured?
