Hello,

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a door access control system / hardware?

I've come across 'Atamate' that seems to do everything - door access, lighting, heating, ventilation - which is great but I would like another company / system / to compare.

Also, the AtBOS system has sensors and wall switches but not door hardware so I'd like recommendations for that. I've never fitted any and have only heard of Paxton stuff before!

Reason is:
To have controllable keypad / fob access to a building with 3 external doors. Need to log who comes in and when, and set some users to all access times and others just to their allocated time.

In addition, want the heating controls linked to the door entry calendar so that the right rooms are heated.

I've been hunting at trade shows for something that does this and get blank looks every time!

Thanks.

paxton. can be integrated with other stuff depending what you want but generally linking access control to lighting, HVAC isn't going to be easy no matter which manufacturer you use. there are additional outputs on the net2 controller that could be triggered to switch hvac on when door is opened

and unlike some companies in the other thread of useless tech support, paxton is usually good

brummydave, the idea of heating coming on along with the door being released sounds a good idea, but I fear it will end up being so complicated that it will cost more to install / correctly operate than it is worth.

There is also the problem of maintenance, if a specific room does not heat when required who gets called, the HVAC person or the door access person.

I personally have seen integrated systems before, when they work they can be good, but when they go wrong you wish you were not there, and if it's not you that is there, the person that is there will have no clue what is or is not happening.

I suggest the reason you got blank looks at trade shows is that (As the old saying goes) Been there, done that, got the tee shirt, it just doesn't work.

I would tell your prospective client that it would be better off if the HVAC system had occupancy switches added and a separate access control system installed.

Paxton is good kit and is well supported with excellent training courses around the country and the tech support is always good to back it up
