Am currently wiring a new extension off a kitchen which is also being refurbed. Am installing heat detector but 4 feet away and also in kitchen is a gas boiler. Do I also have to fit a carbon monoxide detector?

I think the heat detector is all you NEED to do , as Speccy says , customers decision . We are not responsible for faulty gas appliances but fitting one is exactly the right thing to do.
