Guys,

I've just received this email today from a local(ish) company,,, IMHO I consider offers like this to be akin to the devils work,, they nail you on price and then take a cut

What do you think?

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is ***** ***** from local **************************** based FMB registered building company *****************************

As I'm sure you'll be aware there has been extensive flooding in the Denbighshire area; We at *************************** are regional

licencees of one of the country’s leading loss adjusting firms ************** (whom have a strategic alliance with the FMB) and as such are

experiencing an influx of enquiries and prospective works in relation to the flooding.

We are contacting yourselves to see whether you would be interested in subcontracting works. Also, there will be

many more people affected by the recent flooding that may need help with their insurance claims: If you choose to be included on our list of

approved subcontractors we would expect you to refer any prospective ***** clients to ourselves and in return not only would you be contracted

to carry out said works but you would also receive a £50 bonus for every prospective client we are able to successfully refer to *****

If you are interested, or if you require any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me either by email or on the telephone

number listed below.

Kind Regards

I had the opposite when we had floods here a few years ago, to start with the insurance companies were inundated with claims/calls & didn't have enough trades on the books.

I was asked to undertake pir's & any remedial works to make safe only, by those up and down the street who were unfortunate enough to have been flooded, this was with the agreement of all the individuals insurance companies so long as I could fax over details & quotes before any remedial's were started.

All went well the first week, then companies like you have been contacted by started showing up & I then got calls from the home owners saying "sorry we cant use you for the work now, we have to use ********** or the insurance will not pay out"

I did call a couple of the insurance comps & basically got fobbed off.....unless I wanted to pay the commission fee for getting work (that was a company that has a black nag for its logo).

Some of the work was beyond shocking............subbies on shite pay bussed in by a large company & most of the work done wasn't certed either (the board change & rewire 4 doors down wasn't that I know for a fact)..................that fell on deaf ears at labc & NICEY & the contracting company ....cant remember their name now, started with F though.
