I have a ceiling light from ikea that the wires need shortening to be able to fit. How do i earth it after shortening wires into a junction block that was on the old light when the ikea light has no earth?

Hello I hve the earth from ceiling into a earthing terminal block . I have shortened the wire of light cable with ikeas own terminal block removed due to the excessive length of wire to allow it to fit. I hve put wires together in the terminal block that was their from the old light. Do I now need to earth the ikea light as I have removed there terminal insulated block

Hello it’s a 2 core light wire with L & N and no earth. Old light was earthed into terminal. Earth from ceiling still in terminal as originally not required.

With new light as comes in ikea insulation block

Also , on the new light ,  can you see the "Double Insulated " symbol     .  One square inside another square,   may be on the box  or a sticker on the flex .   It doesn't matter what the old light had   , sometimes the Earth is not required.

Is it made from metal ?

IKEA at their best!  :D . From what I've seen they don't like earth terminals and it probably doesn't need one. This makes installation tricky as they often supply an enclosed terminal block which is a pita to use with standard cabling. Can you post a photo link from say photobucket?

I would be inclined to think it is a double insulated fitting, quite a lot of Ikea lights are.
