Nothing is changing.

Part P is being re-modelled, but this won't impact the EICR in any way.

A customer with a large amount of properties emailed me to say they had heard periodic testing is to be changed next year. I have not heard anything, have you ?

I wonder if they are confused with the fairly recent change to EICR.
There is a new 4th edition of the Code of practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment and my understanding is that as opposed to rushing around putting green stickers on everything that doesn't move, it becomes a risk based exercise so items that have a static location and low risk may need testing much less frequently. Going to make some of the green sticker brigade a little sad, I expect. Looks like a lot less PAT testing needed.

I have seen every socket in an hotel with green stickers on them, makes me feel so safe :)

The current code of practice advocates risk based assessment of inspection intervals. Everyone ignores it!

I believe that Riggy meant the 3rd Ed. of the IET CoP, which does go for risk based I&T, and as he says it is ignored.

I've not yet checked the new 4th Ed. which is here along side me at the moment.

Members rates, plus I "have" to keep up to date, an unfortunate effect of acting as a consultant for some customers, I "have" to have the latest guidance! :_|
