I am going round changing re-wirable fuses for rcd boards because the tester said code 2,I am just wondering do all testers put this or do some put code 3 basically is it up to the tester what to put?

In what way do you consider re-wirable fuses to be "POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS - Urgent remedial action required"

see code 2 comment on model forms  page  397

And if rewirable fuses are potentially dangerous why are they included in the max permissible Zs tables  e.g.  page 55 ???

Sounds like unnecessary work done by con merchant/cowboys ...

certainly not what professional competent electricians would do!

:C

You may do best to ask your boss or the bloke you are working with.......

as some may say based on most of your past recent forum questions....

you are not competent to be working alone??

:shakehead

Assuming you can actually buy one of course .

I had a customer's father-in-law poking his nose into the extension they were having built, he told the builder he wanted a BS 3036 board " As thats what we have at British Rail"

Out of curiosity I asked the wholesaler .........  they couldn't source one on their system .

When installing these new boards do I need to be putting in 25mm tails 16mm earth?although the wiring is red and black or can I just leave the 16mm tails red and black and 10mm earth in?

Here you go: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Consumer_Units_Index/Wylex_Std_1/index.html

You will have to be quick, they are on clearance, so they probably are now actually obsolete.

EDIT

Sorry, all sold, should have checked before posting the link :coat

r.b   We try to help each other on here but if you are working as an electrician you are supposed to know some of  these things .  What training have you had?

evans electric its only a question end of the day if I changed it with existing tails it would still work just asking about it should I be putting in 25mm a know I would If a complete re-wire

So if you swap the tails how are you going to connect them, assuming it is a DNO head and meter

Is there an external isolator? If so what size tails feed it?

If no isolator then are you going to

Pull the fuse ,.......ILLEGAL

Connect to meter........Illegal

Do it 'on supply'...........not even worthy of commenting on

Get someone else to do it

Plead "fifth amendment "

Just saying

your supposed to be an electrician, yet you dont even understand the basics. maybe go get an office job instead where the worst that will happen is the photocopier will constantly print the same thing, instead of someone ending up dead through your lack of knowledge, which unfortunately i unlikely to be you
