Commonwealth games

Today it was announced that Rhythmic Gymnastics is not to be featured in the 2026 games. Not a great blow to the majority of people but our 12 year old granddaughter ( currently British individual champ at her age group ) and her team ( British espoir champions ) have been squad training for this for the last 2 years and put in a phenomenal amount of effort and time ( never mind the financial outlay and travel ). We have not told her yet. There’s going to be a lot of upset people across a lot of age groups and events

It is unfortunate that some will be upset that the Commonwealth Games has had to be cut back from what was expected but how it is funded and the costs involved are why Victoria pulled the plug and Glasgow has stepped in at short notice and may not be able to find or book enough venues to run all the sporting events originally scheduled

Fair point but like most minority sports there is no funding it’s all self financed. Hey ho, build up to olympics training now. Wants to emulate her aunty who was in 2012 hockey
