Cooker connection unit?

been asked to fit one of these today so that the cooker from bright house can be fitted as theyve refused to connect it up unless a connection unit is present.

is this in the regs or is it so that there "electrician" can connect alot easier without disturbing the cooker socket?

iirc there is nothing to say one must be fitted, but its easier if there is, and you dont have to mess round in a box that also contains live wiring

Although IIRC there was something in part p that said connecting a cooker to a connection box is outside of the scope, but connecting it directly to a cooker switch or cooker control unit isn't. If their installer is registered then makes no odds either way technically.

i dont think its notifiable to install a cooker if the accessories are in place, maybe it makes a difference if theres no connection plate

we have no end of issues with these "electricians" who connect up cookers for currys/comet etc etc telling our tenants that the house is dangerous and the cooker illegally wired then refusing to connect the cooker despite there being nowt wrong with it.

purchase cooker,,,,u are asked do u want it fitted for an extra

I had this recently with a disabled lady who ordered a cooker and was told they couldn't disconnect the existing one but would connect the new one. When it turned up they refused to connect as it was just T&E comming straight out the wall. She ended up getting me back to connect it up for her.

I think its a joke, as if they know what they are doing then the first thing they should do is check the cable is dead then they have nothing to worry about.

Do they not bother to check if the connection point is live then ???
