With all the stickers we have to put on the CU for every board change; circuit identification, RCD test, periodic inspection, 2 colour wiring and no CPC on lighting, the CU's are not big enough.

I usually put the stickers on the wall next to the CU but if the wall is brick not plasterboard, what do you do?

I was thinking of screwing a piece of ply onto the wall for these stickers or laminating these and screwing to the wall next to the CU.

A mate of mine is a Printer.

He has designed a sticker for me that has periodic, 2 colurs, RCD test on it as well as my contact details. This sticker is then 'scored' [not the correct word really, but I cannot think of a better one] around each of the 3 sets of text. This sticker is then covered with a release tape. All I have to do is peel off the backing paper, remove any of the 3 stickers that are not appropriate [all the others are held by the release tape]. Apply sticker to board...job done.

He only made me a few to see how It went, then we can change them and make additions [like the no cpc on lighting, high cpc current, high integrity earth etc]

I must say though that I think our jobs are begining to suffer from 'Death by stickers'............. :coat

And customers don't read them either , means nothing to them . Whoever met a customer who tested their RCDs twice a year .

The way its going we will have to erect an enormous billboard outside every house . A secondary industry will be formed where we will employ a bill poster with ladder and 2ft roller and bucket of paste . Part of our scam provider assessment will include checking which firm you sub-contract this work to.

If it was a full rewire , a huge photo of the sparks will have to be posted along with scam provider, and a 10ft version of the EIC .

Whoever met a customer who tested their RCDs twice a year .I always explain and show the customer the stickers when showing them the new board.also as said on another thread tell them to test rcd when clocks change if there not going to do it monthly (printed on some rcbos)or quarterly.arse covering!

i hate stickers full stop!! i havent put any on our nice shiney fuse boards here at home they make the c/u's look a right mess with stickers everywhere.
I agree, but got pull on my last annual assessment that I was missing stickers and circuit identification and circuit details needs to be fully filled.

If the appropriate signs and notices are not in place then strictly speaking the installation does not comply with BS7671.

Right why do we have half of them, If your going to pop the CU cover off why do you need to know if it has non harmonised colours this always has bugged me as you should not be in their if you don't understand it !

The CU cover has frequently being used as an easy mounting position for many of the warning signs and notices that are required by the regs....

But if you read many of the regs in 514.xx.yy pages 93 ->95 of big red...

The guidance typically says...

At a prominent position at or near to the origin of the installation

(or somthing very similar)

So whatever method you choose as long as your signs are easily visibly to the average numpty who may have to come and access the installtion..

then all is good.....

As you suggest on a mega uneaven wall with a 4-way wylex or 2-way garage CU...

a seperate mounting board or laminate sheet nailed to the wall may be most appropriate.

??

the non-standard colours notice is for the whole installation not just the bod opening the CU cover...

its Mr DIY changing his two-way light switch & landing light...

coming to isolate at the CU...

before going to open up the accessories and finding his origninal installtion had some alterations done by previous owners with....

Blacks that are both Live and neutrals...

3core Brown/Black/Grey as 2-way strappers & twin Red/Black as supply.

or..

Blues that are both live and neutrals...

3core Red/Yellow/Blue as 2-way strappers & twin Brown/Blue as supply.

I like the CUs with the flap covers like hager or MK ones, where you can stick them all on the flap and when it's closed the CU is clean.

I got a printer to make some custom ones to fit well with hager boards so it doesn't look that nasty when the flap is down.

The whole thing messes up when there's no CPC in the lights >_<
