D Day anniversary...

Well, this was the scene on Arromanche ( Gold Beach ) today at about 1000h

I have been helping ( albeit in a small,way ) to,rebuild from scratch the Green GWP on the left......manufactured in 1943 and totally rebuilt over the last 12 months. Up to,10 days ago it had only got 1200 miles on the clock

they have parades booked every day until they return at weekend

just awaiting his next project...it will be either BIG or hopefully the SAS modified desert  variant....but that is mucho £££££s

My BIL restores WWII vehicles as a hobby and has been to may such events.

Personally I plan to be there on the 100th aniversary (I will be in my 80's by then) to celebrate my Dad's involvement, he went in about a week after D day.

I think about 20 went from UK

strangely, copy parts are available for everything!

nearly all made in Philippines

lots of U.K. companies doing niche stuff....canvas tops, half doors, tonneaux etc

when he got it 12 months ago there was more rust and holes than there was Jeep and only half an engine

Very nice. Good job that bright green arrow is stuck in the sand telling everyone which direction to park, otherwise it could have looked a bit untidy. Probably ought to have some orange road cones around it though, to stop anyone reversing over it.

Firk. missed that. I'm on holiday near there in a few weeks time, after my sons A levels finish. I am planning to visit at least 1 beach.
