just been to look at a job, single storey extension currently 4 pendants in a square, customer wants them changing to downlights, roof space full of insulation with no access above, bit concerned about getting a decent space round the d/light so convinced him to go with low energy ones.

still not that happy about the amount of insulation that would be near the lights, do they do one where the actual holder where the lamp is sits lower than the ceiling?

or any other suggestions welcome?

cheers

self contained fire proof rated downlights, or just cut the installation way around the lighting fitting and use a smoke hood etc...

yeah planned on fire rated d/lights just not convinced about the space i can make around the light.

JCC fire downlights can have insulation on top of them to comply with building regs, not sure about the thicknes though. Its in the instructions if you can get hold of them.

Snaplite can be put straight in insulation and are ok. A lot of the fire rated downlights do need ventilation I know Aurora do I think you need to read instructions to check if they need ventilation or not.
