:-]
Ha ha. You fellas are the best!
Thanks for answering my question folks.
I even learned something on the way.
And got entertained!
I've always been in awe of sparkies and this post has done
nothing to diminish that.
So I do a bit computer programming. So what? Big deal.
If I get it wrong, it don't work. If you get it wrong, you burn the house
down. Even though I learned something, you totally lost me in the end.
Thanks again, I think I will be ok then with my 0.5A 9V adapter. If it blows
up I won't be too gutted and I won't hold you responsible ; -)
I'll let you know how I get on...
Before I go, seeing as I've got your attention. Again, no big deal, but I
got a 4-Track Akai mixer from Canada that runs on 110V and I'm looking
for a step-down transformer? I think it is. So I can run it here at 240V.
Funny thing is, I have ANOTHER Akai mixer (identical) with a transformer
built into it - that is it can run on either 110V/240V, just by changing
a recessed setting with a screwdriver. Ironically, the unit is ********,
where as the unit from Canada is mint (but does not have the switch and
is set at 110V).
So.......my question is, apart from getting a step-down transformer?
How doable do you think it would be to switch the transformer out of
the knackered switchable unit - set it at 240V obviously and then put
it into the mint one, in place of it's 110v only psu?
The only reason I would want to do this is to do away with the need for
a 'wall-wart' transformer, and obviously just be able to plug my unit
into the mains.
Anyway, It's not important - I've found a tranny for
