Nah mate,

cut it, set it out, dismantle, clean and then solder!

Word of caution.... went ot a job this week (another flood! WTF) where a push fit had split and blown off in the cold weather!

same here pritty much,

thing i hate most flux

Most fluxes now days are passive.. i.e. need heat to work..... active fluxes can be a right biatch because you have to clean off every last drop afterwards or it'll eat into the metal over time.. you should clean off passive fluxes as well, but many don't.

The fumes are the worst thing, can get right up your nose and do cause respiritory problems... I had 17 years of it and now when I get a cold I also have a nice cough which takes approx 3 months to get rid of.. much better now though as I've not been doing what I used to for 7 years or so!

if i get the flux on my hands irritates me, not to good for my skin, but yer the the fumes as well, glad i dont do a lot of it.

Mrs Spec Loc says she prefers me to active flux, better results than passive flux!!!!!!!!!! :innocent :Blushing

but I never even knew she did any plumbing! :| :C

It's not just the nic though, although they are larger so will have more of the carp competent persons. The other scams have their share, lets face it which scam only allows fully qualified time served sparks in with all the relevant qualifications? I believe the answer is none and if the true figures were published then I would suggest most scams make more money from the competent persons registering with them.....
I believe that the vast majority of self-employed qualified sparks (who would register at all) were registered with one of the scams by late 2007 early 2008. Since then the scams started to realise that the pool was running dry and to ensure the increase in membership (since this is seen as the yardstick for the success of Part P) they have turned to blatently abusing the entry requirements. The "back door route" to Scheme membership was only meant for individuals with EXPERIENCE, but few (or no) qualifications. The scams get around this by stating that if you don't have the experience, you won't pass their assessment. If such individuals were required to provide evidence of experience e.g. work record, then potential membership would drop ........

Quite how granting untrained, unqualified and inexperienced individuals Scheme membership can be fair on the public is a mystery to me .......... but then the customer never seems to come into the equation, they merely have to cough up for the cowboys with a badge.

The saddest thing about Part P is that the customer has been denied the right to know if the individual that enters their dwelling is a real spark - unless they are prepared to do a lot of spadework themselves.

Progress? - I'm afraid that Part P is nothing but a sad joke in reality.
