Just doing a re-wire, finished the kitchen, all been plastered and kitchen fit over the weekend but they have changed there minds on the layout of the kitchen which now leaves my sockets, fcu, cooker switch right next to the kitchen sink.

I have managed to get the to change the sink so the drainer is on the left instead of the right which gets me away from the basin but still very close to the drainer.

What is the minimum distance from the sink/drainer ??

0.0cm :)

The is NO minimum distance, but good practice suggests you should try to keep them 300mm apart. ;)

I said to him should idealy be 300 from sink, if he changes the sink for a left hand drainer it gives me well over 300 from the actual basin

then he'll have to grill his toast and boil water on the gas cooker - like in the olden days :D
There weren't any Gas cookers in the olden days, Patch.

One major problem when doing a small kitchen is positioning sockets and fused spurs as you are now experiancing.

However to overcome this problem you could use a suitable socket for location IPx4 or such like.

I did a kitchen a few years ago before part p came into being, the kitchen was designed like an industrial type of set up with bare polished brick walls, all the wiring was done in metal conduit to metal surface mounted sockets, I thought it looked pretty awfull when fitting but, after it looked pretty cool.

However I do not think a splash proof socket would look cool in your instance.

Unless there are some better looking ones on the market that I have yet to discover.
