Afternoon all,

I've been asked to change a CU for a colleague. From what he has described it is a MEM with MCB's of some sort, only 4 way.

It seems he has been overloading the sockets, (all on one way). I've explained a new board will not sort loading issues and he has asked to split up and down sockets if possible. My main question is though, what to do about the DNO fuse. I've spoken with Western Power who have offered to fit a switch isolator at about

Safe I had an isolator fitted to My house, literally took 30 minutes plus a loop test.AndyGuinness
Andy,

Yeh, same here. I can certainly see the advantage of them. The frustrating thing is my meter is relatively new and yet I still had to have the switch isolator fitted, it should have been done with the new meter. These things should be fitted as a matter of course whenever the opportunity arises by the suppliers at their expense. Organisations harp on about H&S and still miss this obvious opportunity.

Ideally one house after the other should be done with earthing system and loop test results kept on record by the DNO, but thats highly unlikely.AndyGuinness
I think you statement is true and will remain true for quite a while there Andy.

Doc H.
