Dol Starter

I have a 1.5HP 3 phase motor. I need to built a DOL starter for the motor.

I need help on selecting correct parts for the starter.

can anyone show the calculations to select Overload relay,cantactor and MCB for the starter.

FLC will be on makers plate, Choice of MCB is obvious, cable is selected to suit MCB/installation methods for cable and its environment, buy a complete starter to suit the motor rating. Not difficult..

To be honest I thought this was a homework question.

Any ELECTRICIAN worth his salt should be able to do this

No, TBH, it would be doubtful that many, if not perhaps most Electricians who work to BS7671 would be able to design and construct a DOL starter to comply with the current statute law requirements for such a device, to ensure that they can CE mark it.

Which is a statute law requirement.

So...

However, homework seems the best guess.

If it's not homework. just buy one, if it is homework, put some ideas up first.

If you are going to design your own, then you need to check what standards it needs to comply to then buy them, then you need to ensure that you are insured to do this, then you need to ensure that you are competent to do this.
