Don't know if it's happening near you, but the cops are out in force around us doing breath checks in the mornings.

Been stopped twice now, Sunda morning and this morning (Friday) in the last week. On both occasions I had 0 mg alcohol.

Apparantly it's a national campaign and it's due to run for another week.. so be careful and don't take the risk (not now, not ever!)

They did say that they are catching fewer people than they thought they might, so something must be working

Now I don't condone drink driving but I don't agree with the campains in the mornings! Why not at night when stupid people drive home from nights out. Rather catching people who have no intention of doing that and may be driving to work the day after feeling 100% but still with alcohol in the blood.

There is a difference between intentionally drinking and driving straight after the boozer and accidentally when you think it is safe. In the first instance you know you are doing wrong and in the second you think you aren't.

Its just the usual police tactic of catching the decent folk on their way to work who will pay their fines, rather than the repeat offenders who will dodge bail and carry on abusing the system. I know I'd rather get the night time drunks off the road over the morning afters.

100% with Noz on this.

I am all for the Drink Drive Campaigne.

BUT - It should be all Year around, NOT just for the Summer!

im with noz - if youve drunk so much that your still drunk in the morning, then your just as much of a liability on the roads. potentially worse, since morning traffic will be greater than night/early morning traffic

Sellers,

That is Nonsense - And you know it. Whether you are working or not - Don't Drink & Drink or Drive With excess drink.

No-one should drive for a minimum of 24 Hrs after drinking. I personally, believe there should be Zero Tolerence with regard to driving whilst under the influence of Drink OR Drugs.

Admin.

Drinking & driving is a mugs game! never do it, bit of a PITA trying to find the car next day mind...

Havent heard of the police stopping people in the London area maybe they are to busy stopping cyclists going through red lights!?

i often see traffic police round here, but rarely see them stop someone.

but from a few weeks ago... 2x police cars (local, non traffic) sitting behind my van (all blue lights on), on a main road, at 1am, phoning me to tell me i have left side lights on.... must have been a quiet night

So they should 'an all. The rules and fines are not just there for us motorists.

I feel if you drink and drive and kill someone it should be pre meditated because you knew you were going to drink and were going to drive home at the time.

If i drink even one pint i wont drive i've seen too much in my life to drink and drive

Sellers..just because you've been to bed does not mean you are fit to drive.

IMHO only mugs drink and drive (even the morning after)
Couldnt agree more.

Get what they deserve IMO.

driving after drinking is stoopid,

driving to work in the morning after having a pint with your curry is feeding your family.
