understand what your saying 100% but as the whole installation was metallic trunking and SWA I didn't know 100% that the installation wouldn't provide any parallel paths as it came into the cellar boiler room also so maybe the trunking could have provided a parallel path where it breached ground level as it clearly went underground and could possibly have acted as an earth electrode as such and subsequently given an Ra, who knows.GN3 Pg 50 - Top Paragraph, Second SentenceAs you stated that there wasn't any bonding (apart from an 'earth clamp' on the SWA armour to the water.....hardly what we'd call 'bonding'), I think you could safely say there weren't any parallel paths, so you could measure Ze without disconnecting the 'Earthing Conductor'
For the record, I know that the method I used wasn't by the book but imo there was no risk present and understandably some of you feel I could have done it differently, but, and this is a big BUT
I, like many others have proved competancy and have the underpinning knowledge and qualifications required to do my job. I have been through countless exams and assessments, done countless tests and PIR's, been grilled by my scheme provider upon assessment etc so I totally and utterly RESENT the "Incompetance" and "Cowboy" Remarks from Steptoe; that was uncalled for and unjustified.
I assessed the risks involved after ringing the DNO provider as to whether to take the measurement or not and decided as the risk of electric shock to persons or damage was minimal that I'd take the measurement.
Very rarely do I do a PIR on a property that can't be Isolated for this test and for the ones that can't I put in the Ze box N/V (Not verified) but as this was a primary school (my first school i've had to test) I wanted no stone unturned so to speak because of the nature of inquisitive children etc. I wanted all important boxes filled on my report.
I hope this is an end to this discussion now and yes, I DO UNDERSTAND what people are saying but you also need to understand it from my point of view also, I wanted to be thorough and not miss anything. I you don't think I'm competant enough then PM me and i'll send you the snagging list of the work that needs doing and that will show you just how thorough I am!
Regards
Scott
