Extractor fan with no isolator

Hi,

If you were asked to change an extractor fan like for like but there was no isolator. Would you change it and make a note on mwc or walk away?

And what if they don't want it mate or won't pay for it? Can you still change it and put advice on mwc

I've just been asked to remove an existing pendant in a living room and replace it with a fan/light (As you would see in a conservatory.)

Would you install an isolator for this?

offer the isolator, if they wont pay or dont want it, replace the fan and take your cash dont worry about it, note it on mwc if you issue one. thats what i would do,

dont lose sleep over it

In a room that has a window, There is no need to fit an isolator if you don't want to as it's only there so you don't have to change or maintain it in the dark as it's usually fed off the lighting circuit.

change it, quick test, take money and move on. if like for like i wouldnt issue cert. wouldnt lose sleep over no isolator but mention it - dont make it cost more than it has too otherwise theyll get someone else mate.

Ive got to issue cert for installing shower pump in loft so was going to add it onto that but i wont bother as theres no isolator lol. Cheers

No windows!! You can only advise mate. You're doing cert for the pump so get paid and move on to the next job. The client doesn't seem to worry about the regs that guide us along. If you didn't do it someone else would and you lose out on being paid. It's a like for like change after all .
