hi,

M osg is in the van and wondered if anyone could help me with this one.

Extractor fitted in ceiling above shower less than 2.25m high. Does this need to be elv 12v? Not rcd protected but like for like replacement.

A like for like replacement is excluded from the requirement to provide RCD protection.

Less than 2.25m vertically above shower is in Zone 1 so not 230v.

Sorry I should have been more specific, it has to be 12v for a like for like

As you hadn't mentioned it Manator, I was just confirming which zone it was in as Matty had stated ceiling height.

IIRC you are now allowed RCD protected 230V extractor fans in Zone 1 now -- also has to be IPX4 or IPX5 if jets of water expected,,,,

but MI's take precident so you'll have to read those

But that would not be like for like and looks like circuit isn't currently RCD'd
