just lift a convenient floorboard to find any ceiling rose below from the down lts cct, and trunk inside a cupboard or somewhere to bring a neutral single into the loft space to the landing light. Take out the other neutrals in the rose or put them in the normally live loop terminal. No need to get a cable to the DB
Yes thats probably more conventional and another good way Nicky. OP can choose to do whats easiest/ best for layout. i only suggested other way thinking that if CU was in hall at ceiling height and not too far from hall ceiling rose then he could have completed job with no trunking or chasing out which will please customer.

in kitchen, not easy acsess as there is a built in sink directly above, can just get my hand to a few cables.can i separate the netrals?
I had the same problem all circuits tested ok but when the landing

light was turned on it took both rcds out fault found to be the strapers

sombody had taken a live from the downstaires lights and linked it with the upstairs light disconected the strapers the problem went away

and advised customer to have the upstairs light re wired

which she had done all ok now

hope this helps
