Hi Guy's,

just want to run this past you to make sure that i am reading this correctly....

my boss as just asked me, does a firemans switch need to be put in place, if we are installing a neon sign, as a temp fixture in an exhibition. the circuit will be fed from a hard-power dimmer socket, and not left un-attended.

looking at Reg 537.6.1 - i would say no, but just want to double check before i look at total prat.

thanks.

he is not a spark, and wants my opinion though... i am still thinking no, but want to make sure i am reading the reg correctly... He likes to pick holes where ever he can...

Is the fireman's switch isolating discharge lighting?

Looks like it.

Is the exhibition within a building or outside one?

Could be either.

And if it is discharge lighting, why is it fed via a dimmer

switch?

Are you intending to mount this at the height stated in

the regs?

The unattended issue is possibly not relevant.

Slipshod may have a good point.

it is inside, it is fed from a hard power dimmer (entertainment dimmer pack - so not an issue),

It could be the exhibition centre asks for it ? Like they always insist on their own guys PA(T) testing at your expense anything you have brought on site.
