Hi all this is my first upload hope it works. Its yet another great downlighter install talked to sparky who fitted it said only just caught joist see what you think ?

he had also installed another 2 along same joist only not taken as much out also covered them over with insulation

Doesn't look like he was too adept at drilling down from the top either...nice 'skid marks'!

Idiot had also done some other work in the house when I asked him where the earth was on the gas he looked at me puzzled and said it was defo there someone must have removed it not

Could ask him for u wicksy as he's got enough wood from his downlighter installs to make u one lol

I bet he made the puppets ears from the joists but ****ed one up that's why he cut 3 of them. Unless its 2 ears and a nose

That picture is confusing me.

Yes I know it's wrong to cut half the joist away.

But what i'm seeing is the joist in the top half of the picture is a lot thicker than the joist in the bottom half of the picture. What's going on there? It seems to change colour and get thinner just below the light fitting in the picture.

Its just the light making it look different will get a better pic next week so you can see it. There is only one joist it's part of roof truss that spans about 8 meters the bit where he has drilled it is about the centre of the truss joist so it has a piece of timber same width ontop of it about 35 mm and it has a gang nail across it which he has peeled back as it's very close to where the timber is jointed hope that helps

So not only has he drilled half the thickness of the joist away, he's ripped the gang nail off one side, thus destroying the integrity of the joist.

Better get some Acro Props under there until you get it sorted.

Some people have NO idea.

No it's ok now the idiot has been back and bolted a brace across damaged part . We are fitting solar panels and we were worried after seeing it we had a report on roof done and told to put timbers along side trusses to fit solar brackets to he came after our survey and did the damage. This is how much of an idiot he is he tested it signed it off we came in told them the earthing wasn't correct and get him back to sort it can't even size the cables correctly what an idiot

Unbelievable I may be able to understand it slightly if you had no access but with access above there is no excuse. That really is causing a lot of work and doing a really bad job to boot what a Rodney.
