Hi,

Was round a customers house as she asked me to change a fluorescent 5 foot fitting in the loft. Checked existing cable as it's 2 core flex.

Do they make them 5 foot fittings in class 2 so no earth needed? As most if not all i've seen are metal.

Rewiring is out of question as it's all been decorated?

Any ideas?

Thanks

matt

you dont have to earth it through its own lighting cct, you can extend an earth from another cct in the area. ie sockets

Cheers nicky I've recently added a socket up in this loft but it's all since been decorated so no chance of pulling an earth from my socket. Thanks anyway for the thought but I'll stick a plastic fluorescent up there. Cheers

and when someone disconnects that circuit and doesnt think 'maybe some idiot has taken an earth from here because they didnt want to do the job properly'
