The NICEIC saw fit to send me a survey..........( Yes, they did!!)
They wanted to know what I thought...............
so I put this:
The brand used to have a "prestige" attached - now its simply another in the long line of scheme providers out to relieve the tradesman of his money; with little or no benefit in return. Complaints about other companies` work are ignored or shrugged off - it seems the "powers that be" KNOW the quality of work is poor in the extreme, yet are unwilling to face this fact because they`ve been "assessed" as "competent".
Then we have the debacle of the "competent person registers"
I watched the video footage of the heads of scheme members answering to the government - the point where Ms. Clancy likens electricians to glaziers reinforces by belief that those in charge of the schemes are so clueless as to the real original intent of the legislation, it may as well be in a foreign language.
I only have one client who requests that I be with the NICEIC - in the future, that may change; as I explained to my area engineer when he was here. I have a real issue being asked to "jump through hoops", and pulled up on a box containing a "N/A" instead of a "lim" - when I am, on a regular basis, seeing other NICEIC approved contractors` certificates, bearing little or no resemblance to the job in question.
As you may gather, I am somewhat disillusioned with the way the industry is being run / legislated.
KME
Wonder if they`ll read it before deleting it, as it doesn`t conform to the expected survey response.
