In the office again.
If I see something iffy with a job, I tend to mention to the customer that I will "Have to make a note of it" on my certificate.

So yesterday, I find this - newly done:

2013-01-16 15.54.06.jpg

Now it gets interesting.

The builder has recently qualified as a sparky (according to the customer)

He is joining the NICEIC; and had the assessor out to this job.............

( I`d expect to get strung up by a testicle if I showed work like this to our AE)

Is it me..........................................??/

The builder is talking BS mate, and it would only be for Part P that He is getting assessed, and it looks like this is out of PP scope? If I was to be personally installing a 3 Phase board, I would have at least the top shrouded in 100x100mm trunking to allow for more cables to be installed in the future.

Andy Guinness

OOOh Dear !!    Unsheathed X Grade cables withoout containment and passing through an unbushed hole .  Same with the Y Grade T&Es .  Utter carp .

Even the SWAs look pants.

He must have ran out of money for the 3ph incomer got  a D/P & Single in there,

could have used a grey single to replace the black one would have LOOKED better but still a ***** install.

Right.

Info.

The supply to the property is a single phase, 80A TN-S (in another building)

They`ve converted 2 outbuildings to accomodation (permanent) for family.

They`ve Air source pumps, THREE unvented cylinders, solar PV, solar thermal, pool heating, etc. etc.

????????????WTF??????

p.s. the "mail switch" is 3 MCBs - seperate & unmarked!

Wow how to take an absolutely fantastic board to work with and butcher it....there just arent words for this kind of moron...

But what about the CUSTOMER?

What customer would actually accept that standard of "work" and actually PAY for it?  I certainly would not.

It looks obvious to us, but to a customer they probably haven't got a clue.

Almost any commercial or industrial customer in my experience as they think that the spark is doing it right  and they are not responsible, and as long as it is done cheap, they don't care.

They believe that the spark is responsible for everything and if it goes wrong they are not guilty and the spark is guilty of everything.

Just rub some of those singles in that 20mm hole, then come assesment he'll get a real shock.
