Been an interesting day, our Digifusion pvr recorder box packed up this week with hold on display so would not power up. Anyway looking at some Av forums this morning trying to see if it could be easily fixed. Reading one it was talking about changing capacitors and the like anyway one also said about powering up with no leads connected so tried this on the one we had that packed in last year and low and behold it power up so connected leads and there where all my recordings in the library for last year. So did the same with the one that broke down this week and it is also ok. I did give them a good blow out not sure if it helped but we now have two working freeview boxes. This may help anybody with the same problem try it. Also does anybody have a clue as to why this might work.

Most FreeView boxes run a version of Linux, it sounds like your box also has a cable sensing circuit (a lot of new TV's have this too, and some motherboards)

I'd imagine that during POST this sensor has put the OS into a loop, does it now boot with the cables installed or do you have to disconnect still?

Alls working fine both boxes would not boot but after disconnecting aerial and scart lead they boot fine reconnect cables and they are fine. seems strange I wonder how many people have replaced there boxes when they could have done what I did. With the digifusion boxes some power supplies where not adequate for the job so you would get the hold message if you got a better power supply that usually fixed it.
