evening all

just doing my cert for my first full rewire, just wondered what people put in the discription box, ie Full House Rewire, or do you go in to more detail.

on mwc i give full discription to make sure it very clear what ive done and what i havent, but obviously on a rewire ive done everything so is there need for an indepth discription?

cheers wayne

As Evans's said just make sure if there is any part of installation you havent done then make note on cert. Eg other day someone was asking about central heating wiring on a rewire. if you not going to replace this cos wiring is recent then note it on cert.

Yep . as others have advised --if its a full rewire then state just that.if there are any remote buildings like detached Garage etc then add that... the number of outlets and description of circuits installed info will be in your schedule in your Cert.Of course any work not done by you is noted down .

Not if you`ve filled in the "no. of points served" box, it won`t.On rewiring a domestic, I`ll usually put "installation to dwelling - no outbuildings", or whatever.

KME
doesnt help ID which socket was installed by you and what wasnt

Noooooo, but:

If you`ve fitted 20 sockets in a property, and someone adds another, which cdauses a problem, chances are pretty good you`ll be able to see the difference in workmanship (unless the whole building burnt down :( )

Points served plus all continuity results could also help identify any later additions.

I had a pub to rewire, when I was away his "mate" would come in and add little things to the job, I did one of the fastest second fixes and got out.

A couple of months later I was questioned by the insurance company why the outside heaters and lighting was not included on my certificates, my answer was simple, because I never fitted them. The test results on continuity confimed this when an electrician appointed by them tested the circuit with the outside power supply disconnected.

His mate had put twin and earth to the outside and some joker having a cigarette decided to poke about with some imlement and was suing them because he got a shock.

perfect example of why to do a perfect test report, not been able to prove the o/s wasnt your work would be tricky without it.

i think if you put number of points on each circuit it covers you enough with your results, certs take long enough without having to do a location diagram.

i would generally put ' full rewire of house including new fuseboard, lighting circuits, sockets, cooker circuit. PEB bonding to gas water.'

as long as each circuit is ID'd properly and points numbered i think is enough
