Went to London on Saturday & came out of the National Portrait Gallery thinking I would have a walk across Trafalgar Square. It was very busy with people, stalls, leaflet distributors & even a stage with a sound system & lighting. It all looked very interesting until I realised that it was the G-y Pride march & I was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I can't help feeling that this is a gross misuse of taxpayers' money which panders to the PC brigade & allows a minority section of the community to parade about advertising their sexuality.

PS Admin - Why won't the forum let me use golf, alpha, yankee as a word?

it was a lovely day out and hopefully more days are booked for next year . :)

Wasn't it an uncomfortable drive down from Sheffield in your high heels & thong? :p :)

You'd be surprised how many gay electricians there are. The reason you don't seem to see them about is because they most certainly don't conform to the puerile image presented by the media of dress-wearing mincers.

As time goes on people may begin to realise that the majority of "gays" are just ordinary people getting on with their work.

Did the London gay pride event actually get public funding? I thought it was normally done by sponsorship. I'm "gay" in a very straight sense and I wouldn't actually go on a pride parade. It doesn't really represent my lifestyle at all.

Incidentally Godfather. The Mafia have a strong and surprising link to pride....

My brother is Gay, I was the last to know of course but he is my brother and whilst I will never understand I will always respect, and I have told him so.

Not met many gay electricians though bigclive you must be keeping them all to yourself LOL

According to a poster the event was supported by the Mayor of London so I assume there was public funding. As there was also a heavy police presence, there will also have been other hidden costs relating to the event which will have required other ancillary services such as street cleansing etc.

This is by no means a homophobic rant but I do feel that there are other substantial minority groups who do not get these sort of opportunities & that the gay community is too easily pandered to by the PC brigade.

OK so the fact they swapped religion for sexuality still doesn't give it any more validity.

you're not the only one with a gay brother. In many instances where a family has three boys, the middle one will often be gay.

One time I was at work with some guys who knew I was gay and it transpired that the four of us all had gay brothers.

My own theory is that making selected individuals homosexual is mother natures way of reducing the amount of breeding. It may also be that there's a genetic checksum in DNA that stops individuals from breeding if the DNA is corrupted. All very cynical perhaps, but I know for sure that I didn't choose to be gay and that the male image has been extremely strong for me for as far back as my memories go. (Back when it was a criminal offence to be gay.)
