OK so the fact they swapped religion for sexuality still doesn't give it any more validity.

Or a big football match with a strong police presence?

Also keep in mind that some of those police at the march were IN it.

But by all means organise a straight pride march if you wish. I'm sure lots of people will turn up to walk through the city for no reason in particular. Obviously it wouldn't be very exciting because you just take what you've got for granted anyway.

Not so sure that's the same thing. Football matches (certainly in the Premiership) are only there to make money (ducks head!)

The problem with charging organisations to police their protests/marches/gatherings is that only the rich can protest. I understand your point and hate absurd Political Correctness with a vengeance, but I believe fundamentally in the our right to protest whenever and wherever we want to. Provided we let the police know in plenty of time and work with them, they should just sort it.

Another one in Leeds this Sunday. Watching the northern news it must only appeal to the extrovert gay community as all they featured were overtly gay men including drag acts & the like.

PS. The football clubs only pay for those police inside the ground, which as you may have noticed is very few these days.

Also it is a myth that police at football matches are on overtime, most likely had their day off cancelled.

for policing inside football stadiums etc, they are paid by the stadium, and are police officers on OT so there is no less police on normal duties. just as well, since in some areas, send 3 cops to the stadium and its a free for all outside!

there isnt really any other electrical forum worth being a member of... used to be a member of another forum years ago, but left due to all the crap being posted, power mad mods etc... then found this place. still use other non-electrical forums, but i dont even use them much!

I sometimes look at the sf forum when buying stuff but the way some of the regulars well I assume they are regulars talk to others is disgusting. There is only one electrician forum worth participating in as we all know.

I havn't posted anything over on SF for over a year! Even then I hardly said anything as it's nasty.

We have some members who seem to manage to fit in with both forums quite well!

AFAIK even Admin himself used to hang out on the dark side!

At one time you could understand the need to promote being gay as a way of being understood and accepted by society. Just feel now that its more likely to alienate people than help, as most people don't bat an eyelid at the gay community. Still it makes for a colourful spectacle evn if it probly isn't needed anymore

my farther-inlaw is gay. Its never bothered me, don't have a problem with any gay people. I think gay pride has had its day, it was useful and I can understand how it came about when homosexuality was a bit of a taboo subject. But now someone being openly gay is a normal everyday occurance.

Why can't gay pride be changed into something different that could include everybody? To celebrate humanity, etc, instead of still being division of the community, the very thing gay pride was set up to try to avoid.

I know that anyone can join in with gay pride but they whole basis of it suggests otherwise.
