Who has a 'must do' at work ?

mine is chewing on a piece of earth sleeving while working......

helps me focus....

Mine is complaining, moaning and generally annoying people. Do it on every job.

I talk to myself if working alone , worrying. Also ,as above , try not to leave tools behind.

And like a job I did the other day on the fourth floor, no lift, office block, make sure if having to go down to the van, that I take something back thats finished with.

opposite to revjames for some reason my sub-consious self loves leaving tools at customers, a week ago i was at a customers picking up my drill and apologizing to them when the phone rang. It was a customer informing me i had left my stabila at theirs the previous day.

Scary. You sound like me. Except - I don`t talk to myself. I talk to the cables, the tools, the back boxes etc etc

KME

I like to spread my tools around the place, let them feel at home. Then walk round trying to remember where I put what.

The fitters at the aluminium plant I worked at were like that, after every job it was difficult to identify their own tools. one fitter came up with a good idea and sprayed all his spanners, sockets, bars etc bright green. Another fitter, I wont mention the nationality of him, but we'll call him Mick to protect his ID said "dats a good idea" and sprayed all his stuff with the same green paint!

I'm not kidding!

Got to have the radio on or the day just seems to drag, also drowns out the utter b0llocks that the builders seem to talk about. Although today was a nightmare me with radio 2 and the builders radio in the other ear playing Heart (must repeat the playlist every 30min!!) FM

I do tend to talk to myself....

and talk to the cable, if it has to go somewhere....

sort of telling it to feed up into a loft space, or under a floor in the right direction so i can find it...

Then when I can't find it..

I tend to start singing to it.....

A bit of "Gone fishing..."

when I am poking me rods into a void.

and if I don't find it quick enough I tend to drift into a bit of Blondie

"One way or another I'm gonna find you, i'm gonna get you" etc...

If I am doing a bit of board lifting

or cutting an extractor vent hole through a wall,

or sinking a back box into a bit of hard brick... and things are going slow...

I often drift into a bit of Queen...

"I want to break free.."

Whenever I cut a cable to length...

I invariably say a phrase that one of the old guys used to say during my apprenticeship days...

"Too short! Too late!"

I think I may need to go and see a psychiatrist?????Blushing:p

:coat

I think swearing at stuff is my biggest issue, when opening a distribution board to inspect for the first time " Ohhhh FFS! " is a common phrase :)

I used to do that but they started to answer back !!! I had an argument with a back box who said I had not fitted him level and made a right fuss because I'd forgotten the grommit. Ignore them now . :D

Its the Dual boxes that are worst...

they come at you with two voices!!!! ]:) ] :) ]:)

On a similar subject, whenever I measure something, trunking , conduit, cable run etc, I say or think the words my deceased chippy mate used to say " Measure twice - cut once" . Strange how these things stick with you.

I was going to use a very long and intelectual word there but EXBBC will only nick it .
