Hard Drive For Music/films Etc

I want to get a hardrive to put all our cd's on. Also  videos, pictures etc and i would like to be able to view/listen to it on all the smart tv's in the house. Also possibly any WIFI device. The Tvs are all hardwired to the hub. I have an office computer that is left on.

Any ideas on what to get rather than just an external drive. CPC list a load of fancy ones that i havent got a clue what most the fancy bits are. I was thinking of 2TB max.

These guys are always going on about synology! Used to have a nas but that went in the loft with the PC.

Synology, as the Boaty one says they just work!

Synology. I'm only going the Pi route............well, 'cos one I'm tight and two, spent too much time watching Blue Peter as a kid and just like seeing what I can cobble together on the cheap!

I'm gonna look at other options with a pi shortly.

They Synology backs up all our business & personal data (like wedding pictures).

As has been said you need to decide how important the data actually is.
