Seasons Greetings one and all! Signed up today after a bad experience on another forum with a very similar name! Anyway, I'm not in the trade as such i.e. I don't make my living as an electrician. I work as an mechanical engineer with a heavy emphasis on the electrical side of things; 3-phase motors control gear and industrial plcs. A hobby electronics sort as well, guess I just like wires! I'm also a landlord so a few years back enrolled on a proper Part P course (2 evenings a week for 35 weeks). From there I've done my 2330 and just finished this year the Level 3. Also took and passed the full 17th. Not yet in a scheme but will more than likely go with ELECSA in the new year. Not in it to make money, I just want to be able to do my own stuff. Thanks for reading!

1. welcome to the forum

2. merry Christmas

3. we are (usually) nice and helpful here, if you can cope with us going a little off topic at times.

Welcome to the forum mate. It's good to have you onboard. Many of us have had bad experiences of the dark side forum but its nothing like that on here. Here's friendly :)

Hi Onoff, I think the dinosaurs must have been out in force on there today. I just posted on there and got flamed because I've dared to enter the trade without doing a full apprenticeship! I'm hoping this forum is a nicer place to be! Welcome!

Thats about it Croft you have these companies promising there are hundreds of electrical jobs but really there are not in fact there are plenty of experienced sparks on here with no work or very little. 5 week courses are not popular on here but hopefully you won't get flamed down so to speak and welcome to the forum.

OH, just wait til I start on you in here, ;)

cr0ft, contrary to what people may tell you about me,

I dont have an issue totally with short course folks, its only the ones that do a 5day course that come out thinking they have 25years under their belt,

in all honesty, myself, and I think most others on here will agree when I say, every day is a school day.

good luck and welcome to you both, cr0ft and Onoff

welcome oneoff and I refer you to the answer I gave to my hounerable friend Cr0ft moments ago

Welcome both.

First probing question! ;)

So both, on behalf of other deserters, what were your user names over there if you care to be so honest?... ;)

It IS the best mate. There are no other forums? Or not none that even come close to it. ]:)
