lol! Im a programming freak, but know nothing about electrical! I have basically set up a media centre using a small computer and touch screen monitor which are accompanied by a set of speakers! In the house they all work fine, but ideally I want the system installed in my car so I can get the most from it!

Its just a media centre at current that allows the steaming of music, video, tv shows etc.. but in the car I will be able to program it to link into my ECU to show me all of my diagnostics!

It will be made up of the computer, the screen and the speakers and I was wondering how I would be able to convert all of those power sources into a DC plug to slot into my car's cigarette lighter..

I will have a full post as soon as I am allowed to post in the main forums! (8 more posts to go! lol)

Good shout on the invertor! Didnt even think of that

I did look into using dash command with my iPad.. But I feel like I would get far more out of creating my own system so I can switch between the media player and the OBD's (plus I will be able to edit my code to do things like reset warning lights and all that good stuff) But more than anything the idea came about so I could change my speaker system without pulling my company car to bits! haha
